How Do I Setup My Dial-Up Account?
 
Windows 98
  1. Double-click the My Computer icon.
  2. Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
  3. Double-click the Make New Connection icon.
  4. Click the Next button.
  5. Delete the contents of the Area code field, and type the area code for your access number. Delete the contents of the Telephone number field, and type your access number. Click the Next button.
  6. Click the Finish button.
  7. Click the My Connection icon.
  8. From the File menu, choose Properties.
  9. Click on the Server Types tab. Uncheck the box next to Log on to network. Uncheck the box next to NetBEUI. Uncheck the box next to IPX/SPX Compatible. Click the TCP/IP Settings button. Select Specify name server addresses. Delete the contents of the Primary DNS field, and type one of the DNS servers (ie. 140.186.120.99 for Intra-Connect). Delete the contents of the Secondary DNS field, and type one of the DNS servers (ie. 140.186.120.98 for Intra-Connect). Click the OK button.
  10. Close any open dialog boxes.
  11. The connection is now ready to be dialed.
Windows 2000
  1. Click the Start button, navigate to Settings, click on Network and Dial-Up Connections
  2. In the resultant window, Double-Click the 'Make new Connection' icon
  3. Click 'Next'
  4. Select 'Dial-Up to the internet' and Click Next
  5. (The Internet Connection Wizard will opne)
  6. Select 'I want to setup my Internet Connection manually, or I want to connect through a LAN' Click Next
  7. Select 'I want to connect through a Phone Line and Modem'. Click Next
  8. Enter your Area Code and telephone number in your area you wish to use as your dial-up. Long Distance charges may apply if the number you choose is not within your local calling area. Click Next
  9. Enter your username (ex: username@intra-connect.net) and password you chose when you setup you account. Click Next
  10. Give your connection a name. It will help you identify it easily if you have many different network connections. Click Next
  11. Select 'No' if you do not want to setup and internet mail account now. (Recommended) Click Next
  12. Click Finish Button (You connection will automatically dial if you leave the checkbox checked)
Windows XP
  1. From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.

    Note: If you are running Windows XP in classic mode, your will need to select the Start menu, select Settings, then choose Control Panel
  2. Click the Switch to Classic View icon.
  3. Double-click the Network Connections icon.
  4. Click the Create a new connection icon.
  5. Click the Next button.
  6. Select Connect to the Internet. Click the Next button.
  7. Select Set up my connection manually. Click the Next button.
  8. Select Connect using a dial-up modem. Click the Next button.
  9. In the ISP Name field, type a name to identify your connection (ie. Intra-Connect). Click the Next button.
  10. In the Phone number field, type your local access number exactly as it needs to be dialed.

    Note: If you require 10-digit dialing in order to access a local number, make sure to include your area code.

    Note: Remember to check with your local telephone company to make sure that the number you choose is a local toll-free call.

    Click the Next button.
  11. In the User name field, type your email address.
  12. In the Password field, type your password.
  13. In the Confirm password field, type your password.
  14. Uncheck the box next to Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer.
  15. Uncheck the box next to Make this the default Internet connection.
  16. Uncheck the box next to Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection. Click the Next button.
  17. Check the box next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop if you wish to have a shortcut to the connection on your desktop. Click the Finish button.
  18. Close all windows. From the Start menu, choose Connect To.

    Note: If you are running Windows XP in classic mode, from the Start menu, click Settings, and choose Network Connections.
  19. Right-click your dial-up connection, then choose Properties.
  20. Click on the Networking tab. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in the This connection uses the following items list. Click the Properties button.
  21. Select Use the following DNS server address. In the Preferred DNS server field, type one of the DNS servers for your domain (e.g. 140.186.120.99 for Intra-Connect). In the Alternate DNS server field, type one of the DNS servers for your domain (e.g. 140.186.120.98 for Intra-Connect). Click the OK button.
  22. Click the OK button.
  23. Close all windows.
